Sedation Options Explained

Topical gel plus local anaesthetic is the baseline for routine care and costs nothing extra. Nitrous oxide (laughing gas) adds a relaxed, euphoric feeling while you remain fully awake and able to drive afterwards. Oral sedation with a benzodiazepine tablet one hour before the appointment is ideal for moderately anxious patients and longer procedures. IV conscious sedation with propofol or midazolam is administered by our in-house anaesthesiologist for complex surgeries or severely anxious patients; you remain responsive but retain no memory of the procedure.

Safety and Recovery

Every sedation session is monitored with pulse oximetry, capnography and blood pressure tracking. For IV sedation patients, the anaesthesiologist remains in the room throughout the procedure and post-operatively until discharge criteria are met. We require patients to fast for 6 hours before IV sedation and be accompanied by a companion afterwards.
